Sebastian's journey as a filmmaker and engineer began with a deep curiosity for audiovisual recording, sparked at a young age by his father, an amateur filmmaker. Under his father's guidance, Sebastian learned the now-lost art of slicing Super 8 films and synchronizing audio tapes, which set the foundation for his passion in audiovisual technology. He went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics Engineering and Telecommunications, followed by a scholarship to pursue a Master's degree in Image & Sound Engineering in Barcelona, Spain. Now based in Miami, Sebastian is focused on pioneering the integration of Artificial Intelligence into audiovisual content creation. He is driven by the mission to revolutionize filmmaking through transformative AI applications, pushing the limits of how we create, perceive, and experience both film and sound. AI and Me, a multi-piece installation by the artist duo mots (Daniela Nedovescu and Octavian Mot), was initially designed to reflect on human biases by allowing machines to express raw opinions about those in front of them. In this talk, Octavian tries to unpack how, after the first exhibition, the original intention turned into an unexpected exploration of why we let AI judge us, and the curious dynamics that unfold in one-on-one interactions between humans and brutally honest machines.
